LG Optimus 3D exclusive on Data Select

Data Select will commence deliveries for the world’s first 3D smartphone, the LG Optimus 3D, on 8 July after winning an exclusive distribution deal.

The distributor will follow the lead of Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy, who will begin selling the highly-anticipated handset in selected stores and online on 1 July.

Data Select confirmed that the LG Optimus 3D will be backed by multimillion pound marketing campaign to ‘drive consumer demand’. The distributor will also be offering marketing funding, seeding samples and training to dealers and resellers.

Data Select CCO Roy Taylor said: ‘It’s a fantastic win for Data Select. For LG to place their trust in one distributor for a product of this magnitude shows just what we can do in the market and the strength of our relationship with LG.

‘We launched the Optimus 3D at last week’s Platinum Club Conference and the response was overwhelming. It reinforced our decision to back the Lg Optimus 3d Deals and now we can’t wait to start distributing.'

The Andriod-powered LG optimus 3d Contract features a glasses-free 3D screen, a five-megapixel dual-lens camera, a HDMI port and built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or 3G connectivity. It can also be used to record, view and share 2D or 3D without the need for glasses.

LG head of mobile Jim Michel said: ‘With the growth of 3D films at the cinema and the success of 3D TV’s, it is evident that there is a great consumer appetite for 3D. LG is thrilled to launch our first glasses-free, 3D smartphone in the UK and we are confident the Optimus 3D’s revolutionary technology will change the way people interact with their phone. LG is passionate about setting new standards in technology while also addressing our customer’s needs.'
